Lounge seating, an outdoor kitchen, lush garden, and water features have been recognized as the most popular additions and trends in 2015 for outdoor living. When you turn unused space or want to enhance your existing property it’s important that you consult with a design professional who can help you evaluate your existing space and work with you on creating a space that fits your property, intended use, and achieves those objective within your budget.

According to Fortune Builders, “Outdoor lounge space has proven, time and time again, that it can help increase property values and investor spreads. Even adding something as simple as a wooden deck can retain value at resale…However, it is no longer enough to stop there. The deck or patio needs to feel like an extension of the interior. That means it must boast comfortable furniture that looks like it belongs inside, but can also withstand the elements it will be subjected to. The addition of a wall-mounted flat screen TV and a cozy fireplace will also go a long way in helping you bring the indoors outside.” Adding an outdoor kitchen to your property can provide up to a 200% return on your investment according to some real estate advisors.

The popular website Think Glink, helps you make smarter decisions with your money, and advises “Next to energy efficiency, perhaps no other market trend is changing the landscape of new-home design than outdoor living,” according to David Barista, editor-in-chief of Professional Builder. “They also increase your home’s value; 51 percent of buyers surveyed by Realtor.com said that outdoor living space was the most attractive quality in a home, over even open floor plans and curb appeal. To that end, more than half of homeowners told Houzz.com they would be improving their home’s outdoor footprint this summer.”

It doesn’t take much to transform your outdoor space to a beautiful oasis for the entire family to enjoy. We’ve helped homeowners with all types of property and budgets to achieve the ambiance and functionality they never thought possible. Envision being able to cook outside under decorative lighting with fans to help cool you in the heat, and heaters to warm you in cool weather…see you and your family relaxing on comfortable furniture, and looking out over a beautiful yard while listening to a state-of-the-art music system or watching your favorite movie outdoors. We Know Patio Heaters

Love the idea of being able to use your home’s outdoor oasis during all four seasons of the year? You’ve probably spent a small fortune on making that indoor/outdoor space a special place for entertaining and relaxation; it’s a shame not to use the space during the cold weather because it has no heat. If you live in the upstate New York area and have no heat or inefficient heat in your outdoor room, Beach Stove and Fireplace has a wide variety of heating options for you. Indoor or outdoor patio heating options range from portable gas to built-in infrared heaters. Also, consider heating your commercial indoor/outdoor space with a patio heater as well. Extend the opportunity for alfresco dining and entertainment (read additional revenues for your establishment) when you use patio heaters to attract and keep your customers comfortable even in cooler weather.

You may be surprised to learn that patio heaters can be as decorative as they are functional. There are wall mounted units as well as free standing heaters that look more like sculptures rather than heaters. There are many options from which to choose for both residential and commercial use. There are flush, ceiling, wall, and pole mounted units including those with controls that are both weather-proof and installed in the wall. Power options also can range from 1500 to 8000 watts.

Both electric and gas fueled heaters generate radiant heat. Gas heaters burn liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), propane, or butane. What exactly is radiant heat? The InfraredHeaters.com website explains radiant/infrared heat as:
The transfer of thermal energy in the form of electromagnetic waves. True infrared heat should have one common characteristic: that the transfer of heat is emitted or radiated from the heated object or substance. The source emits radiation at a peak wavelength towards an object. The object can absorb the radiation at some wavelength, reflect radiation at other wavelengths, and re-radiate wavelengths. It is the absorbed radiation that creates the heat within the object.

When using a radiant heater there are several precautions that must be taken especially with portable heaters. Always turn off the gas when the heater is not in use; do not alter or bypass the safety valve. It is important to use the reflector and keep the heater on a hard, flat surface away from any flammable liquids. Do not use heaters when wind conditions exceed 10 miles an hour (so that the flame does not get blown out yet the gas flow continues). If the light does go out, BE SURE TO WAIT ATLEAST 5 MINUTES BEFORE RELIGHTING.

When deciding to use an external heating element for your patio or outdoor space, it’s important to choose the right unit based on the space, intention, budget, and of course style. Purchasing the wrong heater will not only waste your money, but, more importantly will not provide the heat you need—too little heat and you are cold, too much heat and you have a fire hazard. Consult with a sales professional for assistance. When it comes to installing your heater, remember you are dealing with electricity or toxic flammable gas and it is not the time or the place to “try to save a buck”—leave it to the professionals who provide a warranty on their work.

If you are in upstate New York you have the advantage of being able to visit our showroom in Westhampton Beach. The technicians at Beach Stove & Fireplace are NFI certified. As stated the National Fireplace Institute’s (NFI) website, the need for a professional installer with the proper credentials can be summed up in two words, “public safety”. Contact us or stop by and we will share our expertise with you to ensure you have a warm and comfortable outdoor space.

Outdoor Patio Heaters Enhance Any Outdoor Entertaining Event

For people who love warm weather, being outdoors and enjoying the summer is the best part of the year. In New York, summer tends to come to an end more quickly than most people want and the chilly weather inevitably sets in. To combat the invasion of cool fall weather, an outdoor patio heater makes an ideal addition to your outdoor area. There are several types of outdoor patio heaters on the market, and the type of heater you choose depends on the space that requires heating.

What is an Outdoor Patio Heater?

An outdoor patio heater is used to heat up an outdoor area and comes in different styles and sizes to suit the space. Different types of outdoor patio heaters include standing gas heaters, portable electric heaters and overhear infrared heaters.

Standing gas heaters are a common type of heater and are often referred to as “mushroom” or “umbrella” heaters due to the metal dome at the top of the heater design to direct heat downward. These heaters stand between six and seven feet tall and heat a four to five foot radius around the unit. Most heaters have a gas tank in the base to power the unit.

Another type of outdoor patio heater is the portable electric heater. These handy heaters produce heat rapidly upon being turned on and do produce some light, which may serve as a benefit in some outdoor spaces.

The third type of outdoor patio heater is the overhead infrared heater. These units can be built into the ceiling or mounted on a wall, so they don’t take up floor or table space. In addition, these units offer improved safety, because their overhead nature prevents contact with skin and combustibles as compared to other types of heaters. The infrared energy used to power these heaters emits very little visible light – a plus for some outdoor spaces.

Who Needs an Outdoor Patio Heater?

Anyone with an outdoor space that could use some warming up can benefit from the addition of an outdoor heater. Some outdoor spaces – depending on the size and use – can better utilize a standing gas heater, an electric heater or an overhead infrared heater.

Standing gas heaters serve medium to large sized outdoor spaces the best. They require some clearance, particularly from potentially combustible materials, so more space is better. Popular in large personal patio settings, these make suitable options for residential gatherings or more intimate evenings in the backyard. Standing gas heaters are also common in outdoor patios in restaurants, giving them commercial uses as well.

Electric heaters perform well in small spaces, so they best suit small, residential outdoor patios. Because they do not emit any gases that need continuous air flow, three-season rooms or other indoor/outdoor spaces can benefit from electric heaters as well.

Overhead infrared heaters serve every type of space well. From small backyard decks to large restaurant patios or outdoor banquets, these heaters ensure a warm experience, even late into an autumn night. These heaters can meet both residential and commercial needs.

How Can I Get an Outdoor Patio Heater for my Space?

Outdoor patio heaters can bring life and contentment to an otherwise cold, uncomfortable area, but choosing the right heater for your space can feel a little intimidating. Guidance from an expert in the business can ease any fears and answer any questions you may have. If you live in the Westhampton Beach, New York area, contact Beach Stove and Fireplace to receive a professional consultation.
