Custom Glass Fireplace Doors

Your fireplace works for you year after year. Whether your home has been in your family for generations or it is a recent purchase, you want it to fit your needs, your décor, and your personality. Whatever products you choose and whatever services you schedule, it’s important also that they fit your budget as well.

Fireplace with glass door

Save Money with Custom Fireplace Doors

Your fireplace may be costing you money and you don’t even know it. Throughout summer conditioned air can escape through the chimney, raising your cooling costs. This happens also in winter with your heated air so that instead of helping you heat your home, your fireplace may actually be making it more difficult, costing you money and wasting your fuel. With custom glass doors, you can keep drafts from flowing up and out of the chimney. They are more effective at sealing the fireplace opening than is a standard throat damper, and when the doors are closed, the radiant heat from your fire will continue heating your home. They are affordable, economical, and actually beautify your fireplace in the process.

Upgrade Your Hearth with Custom Fireplace Doors

Not only will a new set of fireplace doors save you money year-round, but they are commonly used to cover the unsightly louvers on old and outdated fireplaces. When you call a professional to get started with this process, we can help match you with the best doors for your fireplace. Our models range from sleek and contemporary, rustic and Old World, industrial, standard, and even invisible. Whatever your fireplace needs, we have it. Custom fireplace doors are a great way to add value and style to your home at a minimum price.

If you’re looking to refinance your home or bypass a major repair, there are other options to consider as well.

Beach Stove and Fireplace Repairs and Installations

If you’re looking to add value to your home in a more drastic way, it’s important to involve a professional at the start of your planning. The Benefits of an Ethanol Fireplace

Are you spending your summer thinking about beaches, barbecues, and yard work? Mid-July is when most homeowners begin to think about updates to the house because we spend so much time indoors during the hot periods of summer. If you’re unhappy with the look of your home, we have something for you at Beach Stove and Fireplace!

Ethanol Burners Compared to Others

Wood fireplaces require properly seasoned firewood to be stored or bought, cut, and hauled, then lit when you want a fire. Some homes may not be able to accommodate a wood fireplace. They require a chimney, space, and certain specifications to remain safe and within code regulations. Gas fireplaces also may not be appropriate for your space, depending on the size of the space and the size and type of the unit.

When you choose an ethanol burner, you have more freedom to choose a fireplace that fits your needs. They are easy to install, require no flue or chimney and can be installed both outdoors and indoors. Ethanol burners are less expensive than wood or gas installations, and cheaper to burn and maintain. In fact, ethanol burners maintenance free!

Despite the clean burn, ethanol burners offer a beautiful, lively, orange flame that will add to the ambiance of your home and become the focal point of any room or gathering. You won’t be run out of the house by the heat of an ethanol burner or fireplace. Their easily controlled and extinguished heat output makes them great for use year round.

Types of Installations and Fireplaces

Ethanol fireplaces are installed into walls, floors, hearths, and tables, and the versatility in design rivals all other fire products. With proper installation, these burners will also add to your property value. Homeowners, realtors, and business owners prefer fireplaces. They’re a great way to bring up your property value before a sale or refinance, and upgrade a space.

Buying Your Ethanol Fireplace

From time to time, we have ethanol burners on clearance at Beach Stove and Fireplace. Whether you buy from our clearance items or from a catalog, it’s important to purchase fire products from a licensed dealer and have them professionally installed.

Beach Stove and Fireplace installs ethanol burners, giving homeowners exactly the fireplace they dream of. We’ll have your fireplace ready by late summer or the fall if you start the installation process today!

Not sure about an ethanol fireplace? There are many benefits to consider, and models to explore. Call a fireplace expert today at 631-998-0780 to schedule an appointment.

Benefits of an Ethanol Fireplace

Homeowners love fireplaces! As times change, homes have become more contemporary and modern. Homeowners who are looking for a convenient alternative to the traditional wood fireplace can find some great options. One of the most popular options for a no mess, no fuss fire is the ethanol fireplace.

What is an Ethanol Fireplace?

Also, called ethanol burners, an ethanol fireplace burns ethanol only. Ethanol is a renewable liquid fuel produced from agricultural by-products and burns cleanly, with no odor. Ethanol burns so cleanly, in fact, that it doesn’t produce any smoke, ash, soot, or particulate pollution. Because of its performance, it’s considered a “green” product, for those homeowners that have the environment in mind. There are many benefits to choosing Ethanol, and it’s not just good for the environment.

Ethanol Fireplaces are Versatile

Ethanol fireplaces can be installed nearly anywhere that you have wall or floor space and have many more benefits as well.

Flueless Fireplace

An ethanol fireplace requires no flue because of its clean burn. This is especially desirable when a chimney is not possible. To install a chimney, you first need space, and money to install one. Most fireplaces require a chimney to vent the smoke, hazardous gases, and particulate pollution out of the home. A flueless option like the ethanol fireplace offers the fire you want, with the space you need. They are particularly great for condos and apartment residences.

Authentic Flames

Ethanol burns with a naturally beautiful flame, while still creating a good amount of heat for zone heating and aesthetics. If you don’t have the option of using a chimney, you might look at alternatives like ventless gas fireplaces and electric fireplaces. They are great for zone heating but do not offer the aesthetics that a real fire does. You will not be disappointed in the flame of an ethanol fireplace.

Easy Installation and Maintenance

When you find and buy an ethanol fireplace, you will benefit from an easy installation. Some freestanding models don’t even require an installation, and still, others can be installed during one appointment. When you’re planning to redecorate or renovate, check in with Beach Stove & Fireplace first. A fireplace expert at our showroom can help you select the best ethanol fireplace for your home and family.

Costs Less Than Other Options

Ethanol fireplaces cost less to purchase and install than other options. They require less routine maintenance because of their clean burn and easy maintenance. When you burn ethanol you won’t need chimney sweeps, because there is no chimney. In fact, there is no professional maintenance required for ethanol fireplaces.

Year-Round Fireplace

Ethanol fireplaces are perfect for year-round use. You control the heat that comes from your ethanol fireplace, because however much ethanol you add is how long your fire will burn. You can have a fire in the cool weather to help heat a room, or you can have a small fire during the warm months.

If you’re like many homeowners, your holidays and your home can be made perfect with a fire. Choose an ethanol fireplace and you won’t be sorry! Check out models and designs at aFire USA.

Beach Stove and Fireplace, Your One-Stop-Shop

Speak with a fireplace and stove expert who can point you in the right direction. We’ll help you decide the size, style, and fuel that best suits your home and family.

Wood-Burning Hearth Products

If you have access to a wood supply, you may choose to use a wood burning fireplace. Burning wood in the city can be troublesome if you have to purchase wood, but it is possible. At Beach Stove and Fireplace, we can revitalize an old and neglected hearth and chimney with the addition of a wood burning insert. Safe, efficient, and stylish, inserts are a wonderful option! We also sell and install wood burning fireplaces and stoves that can be highly efficient and cost effective.

Gas-Fueled Hearth Products

The most popular hearth products at present time are gas appliances. This is because they are most the efficient, safe, and require the least upkeep. Installing a gas fireplace, stove, or insert is an easy option, especially if you already use gas for other appliances in your home. A gas flame has the same beauty as a wood flame, even with realistic ceramic logs to lay in the fire!

Like wood burning products, gas ones come in a variety of styles – from contemporary to rustic, and everything in between. Many come with a convenient on/off switch and temperature control. In addition, leave little mess, and have fewer emissions than wood. Gas products are our most popular, especially among new homeowners. This is because we can install a gas log set with no chimney whatsoever! Vent free log sets don’t require ventilation, so they are an option if your chimney isn’t sound, as is a gas stove.

Pellet Stoves and Inserts

Pellets are a manufactured wood product, made from wood waste. It’s a recycled product, so it’s a good option for those who are environmentally conscious. They are efficient, offer a beautiful flame, and have a high heat output. There are a variety of styles to choose from, and many allow for a federal biomass tax credit!

Beach Stove and Fireplace also sell electric heat appliances that have the look of real fire. They can be used for zone heating, and are quite popular. These products, as well as outdoor products, can be found in our gallery at your convenience.

You can have your new fireplace by fall! When you’re ready to discuss your dream fireplace, talk to an expert at Beach Stove and Fireplace. Call today at 631-998-0780.

Placing a TV Above the Fireplace

It’s become a common trend among homeowners since flatscreen TVs are versatile, can be wall-mounted, and are the focal point of a living space, like the fireplace. It makes since to mount the television above the fireplace if possible, but is it safe?

Placing a TV Above The Fireplace Image - Westhampton Beach NY - Beach Stove and Fireplace

The Appliance and How it Vents

If you are using a vent-free gas insert, then the wall above the fireplace shouldn’t be hot. This would be perfectly safe for a television installation. However, if you have a gas or wood fireplace that vents through the chimney above the fireplace it will affect if and how you install a television above it. Even though the fireplace itself is the real heat source, how the chimney works is to draw the vapors from the fire up the chimney and out of the house. These vapors can be extremely hot, and can damage electronic devices like TVs.

Is There a Safe Way?

Fortunately, as much as TVs have advanced in technology, so have fireplaces. With an Ortal fireplace you don’t have to worry about the walls surrounding your fireplace. The Ortal cool wall technology allows the wall around the fireplace to breathe, cooling it naturally, and keeping the wall at a safe temperature. Not only can you hang a television above the fireplace, but also art, wall hangings, and it can even be painted without spending extra money on high-temperature paint.

What’s the Difference?

The wall above an average fireplace can easily stay above 300 degrees fahrenheit during burning season. These kinds of temperatures can ruin a standard flat screen television in just a few days or weeks. This isn’t the case with an Ortal fireplace. Ortal is the only company in the industry that offers a solution to this problem. It’s the only fireplace that guarantees a cool wall above the fireplace, and the only fireplace that keeps the walls around the fireplace under 160 degrees at all times.

An Ortal technician will not only install a fireplace using cool wall technology, but will also provide a television mount for your convenience. While other companies discourage putting anything on the wall above the fireplace, Ortal includes a television wall mount! In order to get best results you should have the cool wall technology and Ortal fireplace installed during construction, otherwise the area will have to be remodeled and a new fireplace installed. You should let your Beach Stove chimney sweep know if you’re interested in an Ortal fireplace during your first conversation.

When your living space has come together through a long remodel or construction, you may be excited to complete it with some finishing touches. A television mount is one of these finishing touches, but you should decide quickly if you want the TV to mount above the fireplace. If you decide to do so, then cool wall technology is for you!

Contact Beach Stove and Fireplace today to learn more about Ortal and cool wall technology.

Carbon Monoxide Is Odorless, Colorless & Deadly

Carbon monoxide is one of the most dangerous gasses that people are exposed to…right in their own homes! Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless, and tasteless gas produced as a by-product of your home heating system. When not properly directed outside your home via your venting system and chimney, the gas causes often misinterpreted aliments and can even result in fatalities. That’s why it is so important to have a yearly chimney professional inspect, clean, and make any necessary repairs to your chimney, it’s lining, venting, and masonry. Beach Stove and Fireplace is here to provide those services for you.

Sign/Symptoms/Warnings of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Many people may not attribute or recognize that the headaches, nausea, dizziness, tiredness, weakness, irritability, and trouble seeing clearly may be caused by toxic fumes leaking into their houses rather than being properly vented outside. And of course, as the concentration of carbon monoxide increases, so does the severity of its effects. According to the Center for Disease Control, over 20,000 people have to go to the emergency room due to the effects of carbon monoxide; 4000 people are poisoned so severely that they need hospitalization; and sadly, over 400 people die each year from toxic gas poisoning.

Causes of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

The most common and frightening reason for carbon monoxide poisoning is accidental exposure. Leaking and malfunctioning fuel burning appliances including furnaces, fireplaces, stoves, water heaters, gas and kerosene room heater all contribute to releasing the toxic fumes into your home and most of the time you don’t even realize it.

Today’s homes are built more airtight than ever in order to be more energy efficient. But, when heating systems are not properly vented outside, there is not enough fresh air in your home to dissipate the toxic gas and you, your family, and pets continue to breathe contaminated air. Those same poorly sealed window, doors, roofs, and attic that once drove up your utility costs also compensated by allowing the toxic fumes to escape.

The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) explains it further, “Manufacturers have designed new, high-technology heating appliances whose greater efficiency helps us save money, conserve natural resources and decrease environmental pollution. However, the new breed of high-efficiency gas and oil furnaces – when vented in to existing chimney flues – often do not perform at an optimum level. The differences in performance create conditions that allow toxic gases to more easily enter home living spaces.”

Preventing Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

According to CSIA, “When gas and oil burn in vented heating systems – in order to produce household heat – the dangerous fumes that are by-products of combustion range from soot to nitrogen dioxide to acidic water vapors. None of these pollutants should be allowed to leak from the chimney into your living space.

In addition to carrying off toxic gases, chimneys also create the draft (flow of air) that provides the proper air and fuel mixture for efficient operation of the heating appliance. Unfortunately, many chimneys in daily use in homes throughout the country either are improperly sized or have conditions that make them unable to perform their intended function.”

Every homeowner should review the guidelines provided by the Chimney Safety Institute of America to learn more about preventing carbon monoxide poisoning.

Yearly Inspections & Cleanings

CSIA, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, National Fire Protection Association, the EPA, and the American Lung Association are just a few of the many organizations that encourage homeowners to have a yearly cleaning and inspection of your chimney, flue, fireplace, and household venting (including your clothes dryer venting) by a trained and CSIA certified technician/chimney sweep.
The consequences of toxic fume poisoning, and fire risks justify the related cost of prevention.
