Fall is right around the corner, and all of our minds are on candied corn, caramel apples, and s’mores by a crackling fire. Whether the fire is indoors or outdoors, we have the perfect products to spice up your space.

Fire Pits & Fire Tables

Our Outdoor Products Are Perfect For Fall - Westhampton Beach NY - Beach Stove & FireplaceBoth gas-fired and wood-burning fire pits are a great option for any yard. Gas fire pits offer a beautiful flame and precise temperature control to keep you from sweating through a still-warm night. They also don’t require firewood, so there’s no messy ash, wood chips, or bugs to collect around your fire pit. Wood-burning fire pits are also great. They are easy to install and affordable.

Fire tables are every party host’s dream. They are warm when you want them to be warm. They are stylish, and double as a table with optionally removable glass to shield the fire and heat. Your guests can crowd around the fire table, and they can also eat or drink all evening without a face full of smoke or getting too hot.

Fireplaces  & Chimeneas

With our gas fireplaces, you can utilize virtually any space for it. You can transform a wall into a vibrant fire and stylish decorative feature when you choose a Regency outdoor fireplace. If you’re looking for a traditional look, the Town & Country 36” and 42” Gas Fireplace is exactly what you’re looking for. There is even a great option for homeowners who prefer not to install gas. Our 44” Woodburning Fireplace can warm up any cool evening, and you can use the seasoned firewood from your own wood supply.

You can also burn wood in a clay chiminea, which bring any patio, garden, or poolside to life with high heat output and beautiful window-box flames. This ancient method of heating is just as popular for outdoor spaces. They’re easy to install, easy to use, and is a fashion statement in any outdoor space when they’re burning and not in use.

Patio Heaters

Gas or electric patio heaters are a great option for home and business owners who don’t want to risk small children getting burned on low fire pits, have no wood supply, or have limited space.

It’s Time to Think About a Fire Pit

During this transition between the hot summer months and the cooler fall, it is a perfect time to think about adding a fire pit to your backyard paradise. Sitting outside with a drink and the smell of burning wood wafting into your nostrils is a great scene and an even better event space for entertaining others. As people add more and more accessories to their backyards, installing an attractive, crackling fire pit is just what the doctor ordered.

What to consider when adding a fire pit:

Like any new fixture in your home, it is important to consider all the choices before settling on the final product. What do you want out of your fire pit? Having simply a nice ambiance can result in a different product than one created for serious heat. Your budget can be another big factor. Starting at around $100, the choice to install it yourself, or have one that simply sits on the ground, will quickly filter out many of the competitors. If your budget is more in the range of several thousand dollars to more than $10,000, there are many more options to choose from, especially if you want a custom fire pit that matches the décor of your house and outside entertaining space. Deciding if you want your fire pit to be in your yard permanently or temporarily can also alter your options. If you can see the fire pit being a permanent fixture as the season changes, having one custom built with the proper materials and stones is essential. Having a choice in the metal, either copper, stainless steel, or cast iron, that forms the bowl of your fire pit can add or detract from the ambiance you are trying to achieve.

What to be careful of:

Within your own backyard, it is easy to lose sight of the dangers that are associated with fire, especially when left unattended. Keep your fire pit centrally located, in full view of yourself and your guests. Clearing away any brush or tree limbs that are anywhere near the pit will limit the chances for something to catch on fire. Before lighting the fire, make sure the wood you’re using doesn’t throw sparks excessively (common among pine or cedar wood), and take note of the wind patterns. Using soft wood or lighting a fire when it is excessively windy is a safety hazard for both you and your guests. Besides designing the right ambiance, ensuring that your fire pit follows all the local laws and community rules is absolutely necessary. Many have regulations limiting how close your fire pit can be from other homes, and some may even require a permit or site inspection to make sure there is no chance of your fire pit catching something like a fence or tree branch on fire.

There is no time like the present to consider adding a fire pit to your outdoor setting! Give us a call at 631-998-0780 with questions about your fire pit options.

Lounge seating, an outdoor kitchen, lush garden, and water features have been recognized as the most popular additions and trends in 2015 for outdoor living. When you turn unused space or want to enhance your existing property it’s important that you consult with a design professional who can help you evaluate your existing space and work with you on creating a space that fits your property, intended use, and achieves those objective within your budget.

According to Fortune Builders, “Outdoor lounge space has proven, time and time again, that it can help increase property values and investor spreads. Even adding something as simple as a wooden deck can retain value at resale…However, it is no longer enough to stop there. The deck or patio needs to feel like an extension of the interior. That means it must boast comfortable furniture that looks like it belongs inside, but can also withstand the elements it will be subjected to. The addition of a wall-mounted flat screen TV and a cozy fireplace will also go a long way in helping you bring the indoors outside.” Adding an outdoor kitchen to your property can provide up to a 200% return on your investment according to some real estate advisors.

The popular website Think Glink, helps you make smarter decisions with your money, and advises “Next to energy efficiency, perhaps no other market trend is changing the landscape of new-home design than outdoor living,” according to David Barista, editor-in-chief of Professional Builder. “They also increase your home’s value; 51 percent of buyers surveyed by Realtor.com said that outdoor living space was the most attractive quality in a home, over even open floor plans and curb appeal. To that end, more than half of homeowners told Houzz.com they would be improving their home’s outdoor footprint this summer.”

It doesn’t take much to transform your outdoor space to a beautiful oasis for the entire family to enjoy. We’ve helped homeowners with all types of property and budgets to achieve the ambiance and functionality they never thought possible. Envision being able to cook outside under decorative lighting with fans to help cool you in the heat, and heaters to warm you in cool weather…see you and your family relaxing on comfortable furniture, and looking out over a beautiful yard while listening to a state-of-the-art music system or watching your favorite movie outdoors. All that and more is just a phone call away. Visit our website to view our products or call us at 631-998-0780 and we work with you to bring the designs and blueprints to life into a backyard oasis you will enjoy for years to come.

We Know Patio Heaters

Love the idea of being able to use your home’s outdoor oasis during all four seasons of the year? You’ve probably spent a small fortune on making that indoor/outdoor space a special place for entertaining and relaxation; it’s a shame not to use the space during the cold weather because it has no heat. If you live in the upstate New York area and have no heat or inefficient heat in your outdoor room, Beach Stove and Fireplace has a wide variety of heating options for you. Indoor or outdoor patio heating options range from portable gas to built-in infrared heaters. Also, consider heating your commercial indoor/outdoor space with a patio heater as well. Extend the opportunity for alfresco dining and entertainment (read additional revenues for your establishment) when you use patio heaters to attract and keep your customers comfortable even in cooler weather.

patio-heater-image-2-westhampton-beach-ny-beach-stove-and-fireplace

You may be surprised to learn that patio heaters can be as decorative as they are functional. There are wall mounted units as well as free standing heaters that look more like sculptures rather than heaters. There are many options from which to choose for both residential and commercial use. There are flush, ceiling, wall, and pole mounted units including those with controls that are both weather-proof and installed in the wall. Power options also can range from 1500 to 8000 watts.

Both electric and gas fueled heaters generate radiant heat. Gas heaters burn liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), propane, or butane. What exactly is radiant heat? The InfraredHeaters.com website explains radiant/infrared heat as:
The transfer of thermal energy in the form of electromagnetic waves. True infrared heat should have one common characteristic: that the transfer of heat is emitted or radiated from the heated object or substance. The source emits radiation at a peak wavelength towards an object. The object can absorb the radiation at some wavelength, reflect radiation at other wavelengths, and re-radiate wavelengths. It is the absorbed radiation that creates the heat within the object.

When using a radiant heater there are several precautions that must be taken especially with portable heaters. Always turn off the gas when the heater is not in use; do not alter or bypass the safety valve. It is important to use the reflector and keep the heater on a hard, flat surface away from any flammable liquids. Do not use heaters when wind conditions exceed 10 miles an hour (so that the flame does not get blown out yet the gas flow continues). If the light does go out, BE SURE TO WAIT ATLEAST 5 MINUTES BEFORE RELIGHTING.

When deciding to use an external heating element for your patio or outdoor space, it’s important to choose the right unit based on the space, intention, budget, and of course style. Purchasing the wrong heater will not only waste your money, but, more importantly will not provide the heat you need—too little heat and you are cold, too much heat and you have a fire hazard. Consult with a sales professional for assistance. When it comes to installing your heater, remember you are dealing with electricity or toxic flammable gas and it is not the time or the place to “try to save a buck”—leave it to the professionals who provide a warranty on their work.

If you are in upstate New York you have the advantage of being able to visit our showroom in Westhampton Beach. The technicians at Beach Stove & Fireplace are NFI certified. As stated the National Fireplace Institute’s (NFI) website, the need for a professional installer with the proper credentials can be summed up in two words, “public safety”. Don’t Let Cold Weather Force You Inside

Fall has officially set in, and in New York, that means most people are heading indoors. The wind now has a crisp edge to it, and while the colorful leaves make the outside look beautiful, it does not feel quite as beautiful. If you love being outside but tend to seek shelter when summer ends, you have some outdoor heating options to extend your outdoor season.

Heat up any outdoor area with an outdoor patio heater. They are available is a variety of sizes and heating styles to suit every type of outdoor space. The various styles of outdoor patio heaters include standing gas heaters, portable electric heaters and overhead infrared heaters.

Sometimes known as “umbrella” or “mushroom” heaters, standing gas heaters are great options to heat an outdoor space. The design of these heaters directs heat downward from a height or six to seven feet using a metal dome. Each unit can heat up to five feet out, meaning you have nearly 80 square feet of heated space with every heater. These heaters are generally powered by gas stored in a tank in the base of the unit. Best suited for medium to large outdoor spaces, these heaters do need considerable space from any combustible materials. Large residential patios and restaurant patios are common spaces for standing gas heaters.

You may instead opt to use a portable electric heater. Ideal for smaller spaces, these heaters heat up a space very quickly. They even produce a small amount of light, which could be an added bonus for your space. Electric heaters do not emit any gases, so they can be used in confined spaces like three-season rooms or other indoor/outdoor combination spaces, in addition to small outdoor patios.

A third option for heating an outdoor space is an overhead infrared heater. These heaters do not use of valuable floor space because they are generally installed on a wall or ceiling. In addition, the overhead set up lowers the risk of fires and burns because they are far out of reach. No visible light is produced by these heaters due to the invisible infrared energy used to heat the space. Overhead infrared heaters can be used in any type of space, from small backyards to massive outdoor banquets. They can keep you warm, even late into fall.

Anyone with an outdoor space can benefit from the addition of an outdoor heater. If you want to lengthen the use of your outdoor space by adding a heater, contact Beach Stove and Fireplace in Westhampton Beach, New York for more information. A specialist can help you choose the best type of heater for your outdoor space and you will never want to go back inside.

Outdoor Patio Heaters Enhance Any Outdoor Entertaining Event

For people who love warm weather, being outdoors and enjoying the summer is the best part of the year. In New York, summer tends to come to an end more quickly than most people want and the chilly weather inevitably sets in. To combat the invasion of cool fall weather, an outdoor patio heater makes an ideal addition to your outdoor area. There are several types of outdoor patio heaters on the market, and the type of heater you choose depends on the space that requires heating.

outdoor-patio-heater-long-island-ny-beach-stove-and-fireplace

What is an Outdoor Patio Heater?

An outdoor patio heater is used to heat up an outdoor area and comes in different styles and sizes to suit the space. Different types of outdoor patio heaters include standing gas heaters, portable electric heaters and overhear infrared heaters.

Standing gas heaters are a common type of heater and are often referred to as “mushroom” or “umbrella” heaters due to the metal dome at the top of the heater design to direct heat downward. These heaters stand between six and seven feet tall and heat a four to five foot radius around the unit. Most heaters have a gas tank in the base to power the unit.

Another type of outdoor patio heater is the portable electric heater. These handy heaters produce heat rapidly upon being turned on and do produce some light, which may serve as a benefit in some outdoor spaces.

The third type of outdoor patio heater is the overhead infrared heater. These units can be built into the ceiling or mounted on a wall, so they don’t take up floor or table space. In addition, these units offer improved safety, because their overhead nature prevents contact with skin and combustibles as compared to other types of heaters. The infrared energy used to power these heaters emits very little visible light – a plus for some outdoor spaces.

Who Needs an Outdoor Patio Heater?

Anyone with an outdoor space that could use some warming up can benefit from the addition of an outdoor heater. Some outdoor spaces – depending on the size and use – can better utilize a standing gas heater, an electric heater or an overhead infrared heater.

Standing gas heaters serve medium to large sized outdoor spaces the best. They require some clearance, particularly from potentially combustible materials, so more space is better. Popular in large personal patio settings, these make suitable options for residential gatherings or more intimate evenings in the backyard. Standing gas heaters are also common in outdoor patios in restaurants, giving them commercial uses as well.

Electric heaters perform well in small spaces, so they best suit small, residential outdoor patios. Because they do not emit any gases that need continuous air flow, three-season rooms or other indoor/outdoor spaces can benefit from electric heaters as well.

Overhead infrared heaters serve every type of space well. From small backyard decks to large restaurant patios or outdoor banquets, these heaters ensure a warm experience, even late into an autumn night. These heaters can meet both residential and commercial needs.

How Can I Get an Outdoor Patio Heater for my Space?

Outdoor patio heaters can bring life and contentment to an otherwise cold, uncomfortable area, but choosing the right heater for your space can feel a little intimidating. Guidance from an expert in the business can ease any fears and answer any questions you may have. If you live in the Westhampton Beach, New York area, contact Beach Stove and Fireplace to receive a professional consultation.
