Thinking of a Pellet Stove? New York State Offers Incentives!

Pellet stoves are some of the most efficient stoves on the market. They are the most economic option for homeowners who have no access to natural gas. In addition, they are often included in renewable energy incentive programs.

Benefits of Using Pellets

Pellet stoves are beautiful, economical, and convenient. They burn cleanly, resulting in less damage to the flue. Additionally, they need less extreme cleaning of soot and creosote, and less maintenance and repair. Pellet stoves feature a hopper. This feeds the flame according to a preset function so that you can leave it alone. Your fire remains lit, and heat is constant! Pellet stoves burn hotter and cleaner than wood heat. This makes the chimney work more efficiently by producing more heat. Also, this allows homeowners to use the pellet stove for full-home heating, without wasting excessive energy or raising fire risk. NYSERDA (The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority)

The NYSERDA currently offers incentives for households without access to natural gas. The two incentive options are determined by income:

• $1,500 for the purchase of a new pellet stove with the recycling of an existing wood, pellet stove, or insert (with firebox), in a primary residence.
• Households with income less that 80% of county median may qualify for $2,000 for the purchase of a new pellet stove in a primary residence and an additional $500 with the recycling of an existing wood, pellet stove, or insert (with firebox).

In addition, homeowners may also qualify for a low-interest loan to cover project costs!
